The Witch's Castle

Halloween 2003

LED Workshop

Recently, the Castle Crew got together with The Southern California Haunter's Society for a workshop and prop-building session focusing on LEDs. Co-presenters Dave and Kevin expounded on the wonders of using LEDs in a haunt and also gave a short and very basic lecture on basic electrical theory followed by a demonstration of how to calculate the proper dropping resistor to use with an LED circuit. Once we got past the science and math part, everyone dug in and started soldering LEDs to battery packs. On impulse, Dave decided to install LED eyes in a cherub statue he had picked up at some earlier point, creating a fine addition to the Castle's graveyard.

Jen, Kit, and Kevin exploring the magical world of LEDs.

High-intensity LEDs look cool through a digital camera.

Power tools and cherubs. Kids, don't try this at home.

The tricky part: Dave and Kevin attempt to fish the wires through the hollow statue.
